The associate in this position support engineers to meet customer requirements through evaluation of products- test requests, summarizing results, and using analytical tools.

As a Product Development Technician, this individual serves as a mentor to less-experienced technicians and provides technical support as needed. This position requires in-depth functional knowledge to help support the departmental needs of Off-The-Road tire, Commercial Tire, and Consumer Tire.

Key Responsibilities

Please note: This is an eighteen (18) month role with potential for hire.

  • Support engineers/scientists to help meet internal & external customer requirements. Follow standard processes to complete tasks including creation and modifications of specifications, parts, networks, and the analysis of tire sections and footprints.
  • Perform data queries, analyze data in Excel spreadsheets or other forms based on specific instructions or processes.
  • Work with engineers/scientist to conduct root-cause analysis.
  • In support of at least 1 product group, follow procedures & checklists to analyze tire products with FEA. Follow testing progress, compare test & FEA results & provide test results summary to engineers. Conduct basic FEA modeling & post-processing using DEW & Quickmesh.
  • Perform competitor benchmarking, cut tire analysis, footprint analysis & Thermal Analysis, Mass Spectroscopy, Microcopy & Chromatography.
  • Create and modify CAD or CATIA packages and drawings based on department procedures.
  • Assist with set-up, completion, and reporting of tire tests.
  • Apply inspection methods, nomenclature, and test processes as directed
  • Complete tire benchmarking studies and generation of OE Databooks by following standard processes for tire logistics, testing, and analysis of data.
  • Interpret & review test data obtained from external partners. Conduct plant compound sample management including requests, lab studies & test data formatting.
  • Conduct compound-formula reconstructions & compare with book sheet to identify discrepancies.
  • Support department in conducting and documenting
Requirements

Education and Experience – Product Development Technician

Your Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, required
  • Relevant STEM associate degree or equivalent professional certification, preferred
  • 4-6 years of experience in general industry, manufacturing, or technical OR 1-3 years of experience general industry, manufacturing, or technical WITH associate degree in relevant STEM field
